The NSW Writers’ Centre joins the Blake Society, Leichhardt Municipal Council and Wet Ink to present a new national poetry prize of $5000.
With the theme of ‘Bliss, blasphemy and belief’, the Blake Poetry Prize has been established to link art and literature and to give Australian poets new possibilities to explore the nature of spirituality in the twenty-first century. The Blake Poetry Prize is a companion piece to the Blake Prize for Religious Art, which was founded in Sydney in 1949 by the Blake Society.
The winner of the Blake Poetry Prize will be announced in conjunction with the winner of the 57th Blake Prize for religious Art in August 2008.
First prize is $5000 and publication in Wet Ink.
Up to two commended entries may be selected for publication in Wet Ink and the entrants will each receive a year’s subscription to the magazine.
